It was Thierry Neuville driving a Hyundai who snatched victory at the 2018 Rally Italy Sardegna. Neuville trailed Sebastien Ogier by 0,8 of a second going into the final stage and went on to win by 0,7 seconds. Esapekka Lappi claimed third in a Toyota Yaris.

“I gave it everything, it was a really great fight and such a small difference at the end,” he said. “We needed to make a decision at the start of the last stage and our decision was to go for the win. We believed strongly and pushed hard,” said Neuville after the final stage.
