The Dakar Rally has been dominated by some big names in the past, including the Mitsubishi Pajero and the Volkswagen Touareg which won the competition for three years running. But nowadays it’s the British made Mini who’s making waves at the rally after clenching their fourth title with a win at this years Dakar. It was after a gruelling 5600 miles across South American soil that the Mini All4 Racing car driven by Nasser Al-Attiyah, who went on to take the top honours when finishing in Buenos Aires. But Mini aren’t the only brand making a name for themselves at Dakar. In the truck leg of the rally, Russian team Kamaz won their twelfth title since 2000, Marco Coma took home his fifth win this year, and Yamaha took top place in the ATV category, which they’ve been winning consecutively since the rally has been moved to South America.
