Even though several top teams and drivers (such as Petter Solberg and Sebastien Loeb) no longer compete in the series, there are sixteen permanent drivers competing in eight automotive brands.

Fans can look forward to seeing Liam Doran and Andreas Bakkerud of Norway in their Audi S1s. Timmy and Kevin Hansen return to the fray in the 2018 world championship. Russian Timur Timerzyanov and teammate, Niclas Gronholm (son of Marcus), Guerlain Chicherit and Anton Marklund are just some of the multi-national cast. Former DTM champion Timo Scheider, one of the wild card entries, will be visiting Cape Town for the first time.

Early bird tickets

Early bird ticket specials launch on the May 16 with a 20 per cent discount via for as little as R200. Kids under 12 enter the arena free.

In their own words

City of Cape Town’s mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith says: “As the City of Cape Town we are really excited that the FIA World Rallycross Championship is returning to our beautiful city for a third straight year. In the first two years, the event was a wonderful experience for spectators who were kept on the edge by the exhilarating action on the circuit.”

Torben Olsen, the managing director of World RX for IMG Motorsports, the series promoter, is more than a little excited: “The FIA World Rallycross Championship is going from strength to strength. When you’ve got highly talented racers battling it out for glory, you can expect plenty of high-octane, frenetic action. Cape Town is in for a treat.”
