John Elkann, Ferrari executive chairman: “The 499 P sees us return to compete for outright victory in the WEC series. When we decided to commit to this project, we embarked on a path of innovation and development, faithful to our tradition that sees the track as the ideal terrain to push the boundaries of cutting-edge technological solutions, solutions that in time will be transferred to our road cars. We enter this challenge with humility, but conscious of a history that has taken us to over 20 world endurance titles and nine overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”

Competing At The Top

The Ferrari 499P will make its debut at the forthcoming 1000 Miles of Sebring in the US. That will be the car’s first competitive outing ahead of an onslaught at the famous French race in the middle part of the year. The Ferrari 499P will fight against the likes of Alpine, Toyota, Peugeot, Porsche, Ferrari, Glickenhaus and a few others during the 2023 season. More mainstream rivals such as BMW and Audi will join the action in 2024.

V6 Hybrid

The four-wheel drive prototype complies with the technical regulations and requirements of the hybrid-engined Le Mans Hypercar class. This means that it is capped at a maximum power of 500 kW to the wheels from the hybrid powertrain. The minimum mass is no less than 1 030 kilograms. Ferrari says the ICE shares the V6 architecture of the engine fitted to the 296 GT3 racer. Read more about the Ferrari 296 GT3 at this link.
