Ingolstadt’s premium midsize sedan contender has been treated to a mid-life facelift, blending the German brand’s latest design language with some of its newest tech. The facelifted Audi A4 made its local debut this week. This model follows on the very recent introduction of Audi Q3 Sportback (which you can read about here).

New face

Up front, the facelifted Audi A4 has the company’s trademark single frame grille that now stretches even further to either end of the nose, which also comes standard with LED headlamps. The horizontal character lines at the rear end add a touch of sophistication you could mistake for being from class above. You can opt to have the exterior of your A4 finished in one of 12 colours, wheel size options range from 17-inch to 19-inch and three specification levels are available: standard, Advanced and S line.

Engine options

The A4 will be available from with two turbocharged 2,0-litre engine variations and a 260 kW turbopetrol 3,0-litre V6, though there’s also a turbodiesel motor planned to land locally in the first quarter of 2021. The 35 TFSI (110 kW) and 40 TFSI (140 kW) 2,0-litre options feature a mild-hybrid system, which Audi claims can improve fuel consumption by as much as 0,3 litres/100 km. All models use automatic transmissions.

Inside, the A4’s dashboard is slightly angled toward the driver and features a 10,1-inch MMI infotainment screen. There’s LED lighting as standard, but customers wanting to add an individual touch can also opt for the Technology Package (among four others) which comprises of ambient lighting amongst other nifty items. Speaking of customisation, there’s also a variety of upholstery and colour options for the cabin. The A4 is also the first Audi to fully embrace fully integrated technology, from the virtual cockpit, MMI navigation and Audi connect, which uses a sim embedded in the A4 to provide real-time data and assist the vehicle’s safety and navigation systems.
