Audi’s SUV onslaught continues with the introduction of the Audi Q3 Sportback that is launched into the SA market as of today. The Q3 Sportback enters the Q3 line-up as the halo of the range. Style conscious

The Audi Q3 Sportback is based on the Q3 SUV but is aimed at buyers who are a bit more style conscious. In keeping with its name the newcomer has a coupé-like silhouette. The low roofline (30 mm lower than a Q3) gives way to flat D-pillars and ends in a roof spoiler. A black, octagonal grille has a three-dimensional appearance. Audi S line exterior trimmings are standard across the range as are 18 inch alloy wheels.

Powertrain options

Two petrol engines are also offered at the time of launch. The Q3 Sportback 35 TFSI is powered by a 1,4-litre turbocharged inline four. It delivers 110 kW and 250 Nm of torque to a six speed S tronic transmission connected to the front wheels. The Q3 Sportback 40 TFSI quattro is fitted with a 2,0 engine producing 132 kW and 320 Nm of torque. The seven speed S tronic transmission drives all four wheels through a quattro all-wheel drive system.

Interior treatment

The Audi Q3 Sportback seats five in a large cabin. The rear seats offer space for three people. Knee room is variable thanks to a 130 mm of sliding adjustment. Luggage volume ranges from 530- to 1 400 litres. Seat upholstery is available in a combination of leather and leatherette as standard. Audi’s standard smartphone interface ensures connectivity between car and smartphone. This integrates Android and iOS cell phones into the on-board infotainment system.
