FINAL PODIUM

  1. Verststappen
  2. Alonso
  3. Gasly

CHEQUERED FLAG

Max Verstappen matches the record of Sebastian Vettel by winning the Dutch Grand Prix, making it his 9th consecutive win. Alonso finishes in P2, with Gasly in P3 after Perez’s penalty.

LAP 67/72: SAFETY CAR ENDING

The safety car pulls into the pits for Max Verstappen to lead the charge. To make things worse for Perez, he has been handed a 5 second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.

LAP 64/72: RED FLAG

Zhou has put it in the wall, bringing out the red flag. While some teams have pit, others now have the opportunity to snatch a free pit stop under red flag conditions.

LAP 58/72: RAIN ON THE WAY

While the track remains calm, rain is definitely on the way. Many teams are preparing to have to finish the race on intermediate tyres. Russell and Hamilton sit in P7 and P8, but they could jump up if they pit at the right time.

LAP 42/72: LECLERC RETIRES

The Ferrari of Charles Leclerc pulls into the pits to end his race. It’s evident that something isn’t right with his Ferrari, causing the team to make the decision and bring him in. Hamilton pulls ahead of the pitting McLarens and now sits in P7 behind Tsunoda.

LAP 32/72: HAMILTON MAKING GROUND

Hamilton may have had a horrible start, but he has slowly been making ground. The Mercedes definitely has some raw pace, and quickly dispatched the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc. Hamilton now sits just outside the points.

LAP 21/72: SAFETY CAR ENDING

The Safety Car has pulled in to the pits, unleashing Max into the lead. Perez tried everything he can to challenge the leading Red Bull, but has to settle for P2.

LAP 16/72: LOGAN IN THE WALL

The Williams slides off the track and finds itself in the wall. This brings out the full Safety Car at an awkward time. This does offer Mercedes and McLaren a way back to the points.

LAP 12/72: BACK TO SOFTS

While the rain was intense, the track has dried up rather quickly. Most drivers have now gone back to slicks, with Mercedes being the biggest loser of the lot. Russell and Hamilton sit P16 and P18 respectively.

LAP 6/72: EVERYONE IN THE PITS

While some drivers wanted to brave the rain, that strategy didn’t last very long. Almost all drivers came in for a set of inters, effectively jumbling up the entire field. Verstappen had to fight his way back, but now sits 11 seconds behind Perez on the same set of intermediate tyres.

LAP 3/72: INSTANT RAIN

Rain has hit Zandvoort almost instantly, with a number of teams pitting for inters. Verstappen and Alonso both pitted at the end of lap 2, with other teams staying out on softs.

LAP 1/72: ALONSO MAKES UP PLACES

Max and Lando have equally great starts while Russell looks in danger. Alonso takes the inside line and snatches P3 from the Mercedes. Albon also looked wobbly but managed to only lose 1 place to Alonso moving up.

FORMATION LAP

All 20 cars get off the line as they warm their tyres for the race. While rain is on the way, all 20 cars start on soft tyres.
