The halo brand of the VW Group is planning a new model. The Bugatti Divo as it will be known is an ultra-exclusive, high-performance model that will make its debut in a few days.

A famous name

The Bugatti Divo is named after Albert Divo. The French racing driver won the famous Targa Florio race in the mountains of Sicily for Bugatti on two occasions.

Only 40 units of the Bugatti Divo will be made. Each model will cost €5 million, making it the most expensive series production car of all time. Bugatti plans to unveil the Divo on 24 August on the lawn at the renowned event “The Quail – A Motorsports Gathering” in California, USA, which forms part of the Pebble Beach car week.

In their words

“Happiness is not around the corner. It is the corner. The Divo is made for corners,” says Stephan Winkelmann, president of Bugatti. He continues: “Divo will be light and have a lot of downforce to be agile and nimble.”

“With the Divo, we want to thrill people throughout the world,” the Bugatti President continues. “With this project, the Bugatti team has an opportunity to interpret the brand DNA in terms of agile, nimble handling in a significantly more performance-oriented way.”

Perhaps Winkelmann wants to address criticism from some quarters that accuse the Chiron of being a one-trick pony, placing top speed at the forefront of its performance credentials.

While some wonder if this will just be a more extreme version of the Chiron, Frank Heyl, head of exterior design, says, “For the Divo project we created a completely new form language.”
