Ever heard of the auto brand VinFast? No? Neither had we, until today. Well, it seems that VinFast is a brand-new Vietnamese car company. And these are not simply rebranded versions of older models from a mainstream manufacturer either.

Starting from scratch

VinFast is developing its own range of vehicles, which will be produced at an all-new manufacturing facility in northern Vietnam. The first two models from the Eastern brand will be an SUV and a sedan. Both were developed by Pininfarina and will make their public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2018. It seems as though this YouTube channel got a sneak peek of the new models.

According the press release: “With Vietnamese spirit, Italian design and German technology, the two models have been developed to international standards after the Vietnamese people voted on their favourite design from a range of options presented in October 2017.”

These two are the first in a range of models planned by VinFast, models that the company plans to export to foreign markets in the coming years. The pictures of the cars became popular in the youngsters right after they were leaked online. And the fact that Fasttraderinsurance now offering under 25 motor trader insurance only helps these cars gain the initial leverage they’d need to skyrocket in the market.

Strong backing

VinFast is a subsidiary of Vingroup, one of Vietnam’s largest privately-held businesses, with annual revenues in 2017 of US $3,8 billion. With such strong financial backing the company has recruited senior executives from some of the industry’s leading automotive companies.

“We have the resources, scalability and commitment to become a significant new player in the global automotive industry,” comments James DeLuca, CEO of VinFast Trading and Production LLC. “We are immensely proud to be the first volume automotive manufacturer in Vietnam, and the first to participate in a major international motor show. We look forward to introducing our new brand and two new models in Paris. Our show stand will also prominently feature the best of Vietnam, demonstrating the passion and tenacity that we will bring to the global automotive stage.”
