A few days ago we bought you this news story (below) regarding two new derivatives introduced by Porsche. The Porsche 718 GTS 4,0 Boxster and Cayman are now available to order at your nearest Porsche dealership. We have added local pricing to the bottom of our original story.

Porsche has kicked off 2020 with two exciting new models. The Porsche 718 GTS 4,0 twins are based on the brand’s 718 Boxster and Cayman. They use the same four-litre, six-cylinder engine that is found in the Spyder and Cayman GT4. In essence, you could call them GT-lite. They have almost the same power output and some of the performance edge of the GT4 derivatives but are not quite as hard-core.

Flat-six and six-speed

The Porsche 718 GTS 4,0 models feature a mid-mounted flat-six motor. The naturally aspirated unit is good for 294 kW. Adaptive cylinder control switches off one of the two cylinder banks, when less power is required by the driver, to achieve better fuel efficiency. The motor is combined with a manual six-speed transmission and sports exhaust system as standard. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) and a mechanical limited-slip differential is also standard fitment on these two new variants.

Porsche says the newcomers can sprint to 100 km/h in 4,5 seconds. Each has a top speed of 293 km/h. The ride height has been dropped 20 mm by the adoption of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports suspension.

New appearance

The two new derivatives make do without the large rear wings of the GT4 versions. However, the standard Sport Chrono package features black design elements and a dark Alcantara interior. The darkened effect has been applied to the spoiler lip, the air intake of the front apron, the front fog light lenses, the rear light lenses and the redesigned lower rear bumper.

Both Porsche 718 GTS 4,0 versions are fitted with 20-inch light-alloy wheels in Satin-Gloss Black. The alloys are wrapped with 235/35 tyres at the front and 265/35 items at the rear. Cross-drilled discs and red calipers are also standard.

The 718 GTS 4,0 models come standard with Porsche Communication Management (PCM). This infotainment interface has a high-resolution seven-inch touchscreen and the Sport Chrono package.
