The British F1 Grand Prix started in dramatic fashion. Pole sitter and crowd favourite, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), was bumped by Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), which sent him to last position. For the most part, the race was controlled by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.

A late safety car meant that the two Ferraris and the two Mercedes were covered by two seconds with eight laps to run. Vettel fought Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) for the lead. Hamilton, who had recovered up to third on track overtook his team-mate. Bottas was struggling with worn tyres and eventually passed by Raikkonen.

The podium was occupied by Vettel, Hamilton and Raikkonen, respectively.
