Michael Schumacher has driven many Ferraris over the years, most of them at extremely high speeds around racetracks all over the world. Some of those come up for sale occasionally, but they aren’t user friendly. However, Michael Schumacher’s former Ferrari F355 GTS is ideal for anyone who can’t squeeze into or wants to drive an F1 car once driven by the legendary F1 pilot.

Company Car
Schumacher signed up to drive for the Scuderia from 1996, after winning back-to-back driver’s titles with Benetton. He would go on to win a record-setting five more while driving for the Red team. His first ever company car from the Italians was a Ferrari F355 GTS. The car was finished in an unusual combo of Blu Le Mans over Pelle Crema leather. This was, supposedly, specced by the seven-time world champ himself.

More interestingly, it was fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. Ferrari had introduced an automated ‘F1’ transmission with this model, but we guess the German had enough of driving automatic Ferraris every other weekend. The GTS was fitted with the same 3,5-litre V8 as its coupe sibling. The high-revving, naturally aspirated engine can be enjoyed a little more thanks to the removable roof panel.

Authentic
There are several pics of the car with Schumacher at the wheel. However, the biggest giveaway is that the car has his signature writ large across the back of the driver’s seat. The car was so well known in the late ’90s that a scale model was created as part of the Michael Schumacher Collection. Schumacher’s former Ferrari F355 GTS is being offered by auction house RM Sotheby’s and you can learn more about it at this link. Images shot by Willem Verstraten for RM Sothebys.
