McLaren Automotive is a company with a relatively small portfolio of products. As such it has to offer variations on the themes it already has.

A new car

Over time, the British firm has become adept at drip-feeding information on new models to keep fans and press wanting more.

This week the chaps from Woking released a single image of a new product along with a video (below) to inform us that a new model will break cover soon.

But what is it?

Judging by the taillamp we’d guess it’s a variation on the already brilliant 570 model.

Semi-slick Pirelli Trofeo-R rubber, a large diffuser and aero-flap on the outside edge of the bumper indicate that this is probably a track-focused machine. Going by the engine note in the video it sounds as though the motor has been uncorked somewhat.

McLaren Automotive has not given any indication of the new model’s launch date, but we hazard a guess that it will be at the GoodWood Festival of Speed.
