iCaur 03T REEV hybrid

Do you know the iCaur brand? It makes that really cool looking, boxy model called the 03T. We drove it a few months ago and we were quite impressed. However, that car is a pure EV ie it’s powered by electric motors. That may limit its appeal, as cool at looks, because EV adoption is still rather slow. However, this new derivative may change that. The iCaur 03T REEV makes the model far more easy to live with.

Hybrid Power

The iCaur 03T REEV is still powered by a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 185 kW and 300 Nm of torque. The motor is fed by a 33,67 kWh battery pack,. This allows for a claimed range of 190 km. Once the battery is depleted a 1,5-litre turbocharged petrol engine kicks in to recharge it. That raises the total range to 800 km. iCaur claims a 0–100 km/h sprint time of 7,9 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h.

Standard kit

Local versions will feature a 15,6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The infotainent system has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 50W wireless phone charger. There is also an eight-speaker audio system. Other standard kit includes leather upholstery and ventilated, electrically adjustable front seats.

Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, and a 540-degree panoramic camera view.

Pricing is yet to be made public. However, the EV versions top out at just under R700k, so we expect this will be in excess of that price point.
