Texas-based automaker Hennesey has unveiled a track-focused version of the Venom F5, called the Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution. It seems as though the Texans have been peeking at Signor Pagani’s notebooks. The newer version of its F5 hypercar is said to be comprehensively re-engineered for increased agility, uncompromised handling, and high downforce. Only 24 examples will be produced, the same number as the ‘regular’ coupe.

Same DNA

The Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution shares all the basics with the ‘regular’ F5. It is based on the same carbon-fibre monocoque tub. The same 6,6-litre V8 powers the new variant as well. The twin-turbocharged unit produces 1 335 kW along with 1 617 N.m of torque.

The The Venom F5 Revolution Coupe has been honed with track work in mind. It has reworked aerodynamics, suspension, engine cooling, and digital telemetry. In addition, its overall mass has been reduced. Although the company does not quote a mass figure simply, stating that the newer variant is lighter. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard.

The Obvious Bits

A full-width rear-mounted carbon-fibre wing is the most obvious change. Hennesey says the rear wing delivers more than 360 kg of downforce at 300 km/h and over 630 kg at 400 km/h. The additional rear downforce is balanced by a larger, more pronounced front splitter. Additional dive planes at the front as well as a rear diffuser are also part of the upgrade.

In Their Own Words

John ‘Heinrocket’ Heinricy, chief engineer: “I led engineering on some of the most extreme cars to come out of GM, including the Corvette Z06 and Cadillac CTS-V, but nothing compares to designing, developing, and refining a race car for the road like the Venom F5 Revolution. From the outset, we designed the Venom F5 hypercar to be ultra-light and monstrously powerful, with dynamics to match. So, taking these ingredients and adding track-focused aerodynamics, suspension, and gearing, enabled us to create a machine that is the ultimate visceral and emotional driving experience.”

John Hennessey, company founder and CEO: “The new Venom F5 Revolution Coupe combines our outstanding 1,817 bhp V8 ‘Fury’ combustion engine with our lightest and most capable chassis. The hypercar, which is astoundingly fast, is at home on a racing circuit where utmost handling is paramount – it offers the nimbleness of a fighter jet, yet with a powerplant like a Saturn V rocket!”
