FINAL PODIUM

  1. Verstappen
  2. Leclerc
  3. Perez

CHEQUERED FLAG

The leading RB19 takes the chequered flag ahead of the field. His closest challenger is Charles Leclerc. The other RB19 takes the final podium spot.

LAP 70/71: LEADER STOPS

Verstappen stops from the leader with a massive lead and puts on a set of soft tyres. He sets the quickest lap of the race on the final tour.

LAP 68/71: MORE PENALTIES AND BACK MARKERS

Rookie Logan Sargeant as well as Kevin Magnussen have been handed time penalties. The leaders have to pick their way through the field as the lapped cars are having their own race.

LAP 60/71: PEREZ PUSHING

The frantic action of the early part of the race has calmed down somewhat. Perez is now pushing hard to get to the front of the field as he picks off Norris and fights Sainz.

LAP 50/71: THE LEADER PITS

Verstappen pits from the lead. He had a 26-second lead going into the pits, which means he retains the lead from his teammate, Perez, who once again pits a lap later.

LAP 48/71: RED BULLS UP FRONT

Verstappen and Perez lie 1-2 as both Ferrari’s stop. The Red Cars are 3-4 with Lando Norris (McLaren) in fourth.

LAP 35/71: VERSTAPPEN PASSES LECLERV

Leclerc lost the lead to Verstappen as the pair tussled. The Red Bull racer is on much fresher tyres and made easy work o the Ferrari.

LAP 25/71: LEADER PITS

Verstappen stops for new tyres and returns to the track behind the two Ferraris. His teammate stops a lap later.

LAP 23/71: DIFFERENT STRATEGIES

The two Red Bulls did not stop under the VSC, the only front-runners not to do so. Leader Verstappen and Perez are both struggling with tyre wear.

LAP 18/71: TIME PENALTIES

Yuki Tsunoda and Hamilton have both been given five-second time penalties for exceeding track limits.

LAP 16/71: RACING RESUMES

The VSC period ends and a few drivers have really gained from the ‘free’ pit stops.

LAP 14/71: ZHOU PITS

Nico Hulkenberg retires from the race which activates the virtual safety car. Many drivers head into the pits to take advantage of the slow running. The top three cars have opted not to pit.

LAP 13/71: HAMILTON WARNED

Hamilton has been shown a black and white flag for exceeding track limits. He responds to his team that the car cannot turn.

LAP 10/71: PEREZ ATTACKS

Perez uses the pace of his Red Bull RB19 to get past George Russell (Mercedes). The pair make contact but both cars seem undamaged.

LAP 10/71: ZHOU PITS

Alfa Romeo Guanyu Zhou is the very first to pit. He fits a set of hard tyres.

LAP 7/71: PEREZ FLYING

Sergio Perez, who qualified poorly, is on a charge. He is up to 12th and will be more of a threat now that the Drag Reduction System (DRS) has been activated.

LAP 4/71: RACING RESUMES

Safety car into the pits, racing resumes.

LAP 1/71: HAMILTON GAINS

Lewis Hamilton gets the jump from fifth into fourth place. The Ferraris of Leclerc and Carlos Sainz line up behind race leader Max Verstappen. Safety car takes to the track to allow marshals to remove debris on T1.

FORMATION LAP

Not all drivers will be taking to the grid as a few teams have chosen to work on their racecars. 18 of 20 will line up for the feature race, Nyck de Vries and Kevin Magnussen will start from the pitlane. This may prove to be a good move to avoid any T1 trouble on a circuit that is easy to overtake on. Keep an eye on the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc into the first corner.
