Dacia has become the butt of many jokes, thanks mainly to unflattering comments by a certain British car show. However, the brand has been making good in-roads in most markets (not SA) and produces interesting concept cars. The Dacia Manifesto is a good case in point. The Dacia Manifesto will make its public debut on October 18th at the Paris Motor Show.

“At Dacia, we like to keep it real. As we were developing and exploring new ideas, we felt we needed to push them past 3D simulations and see what they look like in real life! As well as being a designer object, Manifesto concept encapsulates our vision and combines a wide range of innovation – some involve extreme implementation, but they are still affordable for customers. We will be using a few of them on future Dacia models.” David Durand, Dacia design director.

Go Anywhere

The Dacia Manifesto has all the off-road hallmarks one needs. These include all-wheel-drive, generous ground clearance, large wheels and a body built to withstand the tough terrain. The interior can be washed out with a hosepipe and the removable seat coverings become sleeping bags in seconds. A roof rack can carry all sorts of loads as the bars can shift into any configuration. Incidentally, the single headlamp can be detached to be used as a powerful torch.

One With Nature

The Manifesto allows occupants to explore the wild. There are no filters between the passengers and the environment – no doors, no windows, no windshield. Passengers can be close to nature and at the same time remain connected with their smartphone. Dacia’s simple bring-your-own-device approach allows one to integrate a smartphone into the dashboard and on-board computer.
