Say hello to the BMW 8 Series Edition Golden Thunder… we are not making that up. It is the actual name of a new, special edition BMW that you can buy from the factory.

Individual creation

The BMW 8 Series Edition Golden Thunder (that doesn’t roll off the tongue easily, does it?) was created by the company’s in-house tailoring division called BMW Individual. This department typically deals with specialisation of BMWs for customers with specific demands or requests. Its latest suite of highlights can be applied to any of the current BMW 8 Series derivatives barring the high-performance M8 versions. However, an M sports package is a standard feature.

Unique appearance

Regardless if you choose a two- or four-door 8 Series with a fixed roof or drop-top, the body will feature Sapphire Black metallic or Frozen Black metallic paint. The dark shade is offset by BMW’s Individual High Gloss Shadow Line and black brake calipers. The entire appearance is highlighted with gold accents. The lighter shade is applied on lines running from the front apron to the side skirts and onto the rear of the body. Other items finished in the same shade are the side mirror caps, the rear spoiler (only on the BMW 8 Series Coupé) and the 20-inch alloy wheels.

Cabin highlights

Occupants will also be reminded they are sitting in the BMW 8 Series Edition Golden Thunder. Changes within the cabin included Merino leather trim in black with the “Edition Golden Thunder” embroidered on the front headrests. An Alcantara anthracite roof liner is employed in the fixed roof versions. Select parts of the interior trim have been finished in aluminium mesh effect gold. CraftedClarity glass has been applied for some controls and all cars feature a high-end Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound hifi.
