There can’t be a more stylish or quicker shuttle to ferry race drivers and team members to the circuit than the new Aston Martin Rapide AMR.

A Le Mans celebration

To celebrate the company’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, to defend its 2017 title, the British firm has created this limited edition Aston Martin Rapide AMR. Just 210 units of the bespoke model will be built.

New, functional looks

The Rapide AMR’s extra aerodynamic bodywork such as the splitter, sills, rear diffuser, lip spoiler and boot lid are all functional items that help tune the aerodynamic balance of the luxury saloon. Each of these items, as well as the bonnet, has been fashioned from lightweight carbon-fibre.

Rapide AMR is fitted with 21-inch alloys, the largest ever fitted on an Aston Martin at the factory, shod with ultra-high performance Michelin Super Sport tyres.

Power up

Powering the Rapide AMR is a naturally aspirated 6,0-litre V12. Larger inlet manifolds with tuned length inlet runners, that enhance the airflow, combined with new ECU calibration results in 444 kW of power and 630 N.m of torque released from the motor.

Aston Martin claims the new model will race from 0-100 km/h in 4,4 seconds and has a top speed of 328 km/h. To slow from these speeds the Rapide AMR comes standard with carbon ceramic brakes measuring 400 mm at the front with six-piston calipers and 360 mm at the rear with four-piston calipers.

Upgrade interior

Each Rapide AMR has a full-length carbon-fibre centre console and the seats are trimmed in Alcantara. Every car has discrete AMR logos stitched into the seats in Galena Silver and each car will come with a limited-edition AMR inspection plaque as well as AMR branding on the carbon sill plaques.

Aston Martin president and CEO, Dr Andy Palmer, commented: “AMR takes technology and inspiration from our motorsport programme to amplify the sporting prowess in our road cars which is clear to see in the Rapide AMR, Aston Martin’s most extreme, 4-door sports car. With enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language, Aston Martin has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes.”
