One-Off

It may be called the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato, but you’re wondering where’s the Giulia? Well, the car you see is based on the latest sedan from the Italian automaker, albeit heavily modified. A Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde gave its life so this sleek special could come into existence.

Many speculated that this car would be produced in a limited run, but just a single example will exist. The lucky owner is a German Alfa Romeo fan with an extensive collection of Alfas and Zagato products.

Zagato Styled

Zagato undertook the design of the coach-built special. Alejandro Mesonero, the head of Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, and his team of designers supported the project from the very start. Every body panel has been redesigned and is made from carbon-fibre. The cabin retains the dashboard layout of the Giulia. It has a two-seater configuration, with carbon-fibre bucket seats.

The proportions are reminiscent Zagato’s other work. There is a long bonnet and a sloping roofline leading to the fastback tail through the pronounced shoulders. Other features include a large diffuser with centrally-mounted dual exhaust tips and Zagato’s signature double-bubble roof.

Cuore Sportivo

Under that bespoke body is a shortened wheelbase of the current Giulia. It has the heart of the Giulia GTAm. The twin-turbocharged 2,9-litre V6 has just about 400 kW and 600 N.m of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends all that power to the rear axle. The press material makes no mention of any performance claims, but we’ll bet it’s suitably quick and a blast to drive with that short wheelbase and manual transmission.
