There are plenty of European and American companies producing lust-worthy restomods. We have covered many of them on our website, as you can see at this link. But what if the best Italian restomod was made in Australia? Say hello to the Alfarrari, which must be the ultimate combination of Italy’s finest.

A Classic Made New
The Alfarrari is the brainchild of an Aussie blogger who goes by the name of Home Built By Jeff. His name already gives you an idea of the kind of chap we are dealing with. Jeff Micklem has exceptional mechanical skills and prefers to do all his handiwork in his own garage.
The idea for the Alfarrari was simple: to completely restore a series 105 Alfa Romeo with a unique powerplant. Starting with a really good example of a GT Junior would be too easy. Therefore Jeff started with a 1973 model that needed to be returned to a usable canvas. That alone took ages but the full-time fire-fighter returned the car to its former glory.
Impressively, Micklem was responsible for every aspect of the Alfarrari. He refurbished the body from really bad rust to near perfect. He also did all the wiring. In addition he was responsible for the entire interior treatment. He ain’t kidding when he says ‘Home Built By Jeff’.

Combining the Best
There are plenty of beautiful 105s out there. Engine choices in restomods for this classic coupe range from modern Alfa inline-fours to twin-turbo V6s and even electric motors. However, Jeff went in a completely different direction. He slotted a Ferrari engine into the engine bay of the GTV. The engine is from a Ferrari 360. The 3,6-litre V8 remains fairly standard. This naturally aspirated unit revs to 9 000 r/min. As a result it produces 227 kW at the wheels. The V8 is mated to a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels through an LSD.
The best part is that this isn’t some trailer queen made just for shows. Jeff drives the car on the road, sometimes visiting shows where others can gawk over his one-off creation. The whole process took over five years. Furthermore, Micklem documented the entire build, from day one, in over 240 videos on his YouTube channel. Thankfully, he has also spliced together a compilation video, which you can view below.
