While the G-Class may be one of Mercedes’ more overlooked class of vehicles, it has received a range of new upgrades and additions at the start of the 2015 model year. The classic G-Class body hasn’t changed much since it’s release 35 years ago, but Mercedes have continued to improve upon the technology, and upgrade the parts used in the car. In this years model the biggest announcement is the inclusion of a 4.0 litre turbocharged V8 engine, the same used in Mercedes’ AMG GT and AMG sports models.

The G-Class’ new engine will see it produce 416 horsepower, and reach 0-60km/h in 5.9 seconds, an impressive time for a car of it’s size. Overall the new parts result in an 16 percent improvement in power output and better fuel consumption. Other additions to the new G-Class include a ECO function which allows the driver to minimise emissions, restyled bumpers and AMG wheel arches.
