Mercedes-AMG does a good job of leaning on its F1 activities. The latest creation to take inspiration from the race team is the Mercedes-AMG GT63 Motorsport Collector’s Edition. The name may be a bit of a giveaway that this is a limited-edition version, just 200 units will be sold worldwide.

Back in Black

Often called the Silver Arrows, the team’s F1 race machines have been painted black in recent years. As a result, the GT63 Motorsport Collector’s Edition is painted in a base coat of Obsidian Black metallic paint. A series of hand-applied Mercedes stars and bright green accents bring it closer in appearance to the F1 racers.

To this colour combo, Mercedes-AMG has added a carbon fibre front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser and fixed rear wing. The 21-inch alloys also have green accents, and are shod with sticky, semi-slick rubber. The standard brakes consists of a ceramic high-performance composite set-up with six-piston calipers at the front and one-piston calipers at the rear. These are also finished in green. The front alloys shroud 420 mm discs.

Interior Differences

The cabin features nappa leather and micro-fibre upholstery with green accents. There are lashings of carbon-fibre as well. Mercedes-AMG GT63 Motorsport Collector’s Edition has the ability to record telemetry from track sessions so you can analyse data after the fact.

The Mercedes-AMG GT63 Motorsport Collectors Edition is powered by the brand’s familiar 4,0-litre V8. The twin-turbocharged unit produces 450 kW of power. An automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels.
