Crime is a very serious issue in a country and all over the world. Car hijacking and theft is one of the highest types of crime, with thousands of cars being stolen every year. There is hardly ever a chance that the cars that are stolen will ever be recovered. But for a Texas man in Los Angeles, this was not the case as he discovered his stolen forty two years after it had been stolen. The sports car that had been stolen from him forty two years ago was spotted by him on eBay.

The owner of the 1967 Austin-Healey, Robert Russell said that he had never given up on finding his car after it had been stolen from his home in Philadelphia in 1970. Robert Russell is a retired salesman aged sixty six; Mr Russell had purchased the car from a friend for $3000 dollars. It also has sentimental value to him as it was stole from him the day after he had taken his wife on their second date. Although he never gave up looking for his sports car he said that he never had much luck and also didn’t have any hop left of finding the car. He believes that the fact that the car still exists is a miracle as cars are usually scrapped as soon as they are stolen and sold for parts.

Against all odds he spotted the car after checking regularly on eBay. The 1967 Austin-Healey was being sold by a dealer in Beverly Hills which he immediately called after spotting his prized sports car on eBay. The value of his car had dramatically increased over the years and was now being sold for 23 000 dollars. Although the identification matched that of his car he had no proof that the car had been stolen from him as he did not have the report from the police to say that they had stolen the car.
