Ford South Africa will soon launch the facelifted Ford Mustang into the local market. Before that event takes place, we have pricing of all the models in the range.
Revised inside and out
The world’s best known and most enduring muscle car has been revised of late. Good news for local Pony Car fans is that the new model will go on sale locally in a matter of weeks. The revised version is distinguished by a decidedly more pointy face and frowny appearance than before.
Revisions to the facelifted Ford Mustang have not been limited to the exterior. There is a new infotainment interface as well as digital instruments in the cluster ahead of the driver. The seats also feature a new covering.
Four and Eight
New looks are accompanied by a new line-up that includes no fewer than five models for local buyers to choose from. There are two engine options: a turbocharged 2,3-litre and a naturally aspirated 5,0-litre V8. The former produces 213 kW of power with 440 N.m of peak torque. Headline figures for the V8 are 331 kW and 529 N.m of twist effort. Both of these engines are mated with a new ten-speed automatic transmission that is linked to the rear wheels. You can have either engine in a body shell with a roof or with a folding soft top, which makes for a four-car line-up.

Faster than a…
Movies buffs may be happy to note that the special-edition Mustang Bullitt will also go on sale in South Africa. The V8 in this derivative has a fraction more power, at 338 kW, but the same peak torque as the other models in the range. Its power is sent to the rear axle through a six-speed manual transmission. This makes it one of the most powerful manual cars to go on sale locally in ages. The Bullitt edition is only available as hard-top.
