Guangzhou Auto Corporation (GAC) is an unknown quantity in the west. However, it is the fifth biggest carmaker in China, and that’s saying something. Aion is the company’s dedicated electric vehicle brand. At a recent media day the company revealed the GAC Aion Hyper SSR.

This is the brand’s first ultra-high performance model. GAC has divulged a few pieces of information on the new model. There will be two versions of the Aion Hyper SSR. The Ultimate version features all-wheel-drive and boasts 913 kW. The company says the AWD derivative can sprint from 0-96 km/h (60 mph) in 1,9 seconds. There is also a RWD version but there was no info about its power output or sprinting capabilities.
