The Bovensiepen Zagato was unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este that took place in Italy this past weekend. It is the end result of a collaboration between two famous motoring families. Zagato may be a name well known to motoring enthusiasts, but Bovensiepen not so. The latter is the surname of the founder of Alpina. The founder’s two sons, Andreas and Florian, have now formed a new company and the Bovensiepen Zagato is its first creation.
As two family businesses, we still view the automobile through romantic eyes.
Today, many vehicles are highly standardized, and their romance is being lost.
Our goal is to build automobiles for connoisseurs and enthusiasts who appreciate the perfect symbiosis of design and technology
– Andreas Bovensiepen, CEO Bovensiepen Automobiles.

BMW M4 Base
The Bovensiepen Zagato, as best we can tell, is based on BMW M4. The company says that over 400 new parts were developed for its transformation from sporting coupe to Gran Turismo. Among these are an all-new body designed by Norihiko Harada, Zagato chief designer. The Milanese design house has even incorporated its signature “Double Bubble” curvature in the roof and rear window. The outer skin is made almost entirely of carbon-fibre. Other exterior changes include lightweight forged wheels.

Power Increase
There is a 3,0-litre inline-six under that elongated bonnet, no doubt borrowed from the M4 as well along with its eight-speed automatic transmission. Power has been increased to 449 kW along with a peak torque figure of 700 N.m. The 0-100 km/h time of 3,3 seconds suggests that it is all-wheel drive. The top speed is quoted as above 300 km/h. A lightweight titanium exhaust system, developed with Akrapovič helps the engine to breathe a little easier.

Each car takes 250 hours to convert to its new persona. The changes include s leather-covered instrument panel, shift paddles made of milled aluminium, an individual production plate and the hand-stitched Lavalina steering wheel. Many aspects of the interior can be tailored as per a buyer’s request.
